Jesse Welles Richmond Concert reviews
Jackson Browne Retro!!
The Orpheum Theatre in Omaha had great seats for Jesse Welles concert. Opening act, Sean and Sara Watkins, started the show. During his performance, Jesse brought in the Watkins on some songs. He joked with the audience about bringing back retro furnishings each time he is in Omaha. This time, he wanted to send 50's light fixtures to all his friends. Jesse did a full two hours of great songs, switching from the guitar to piano and back.
The staging and lighting were superb. Jesse fielded requests from the audience and managed to sing songs from over a dozen albums. The last set finished up with an encore of "Running on Empty" and "Blue and Black."
I've read a lot of JB tour reviews. Almost universally, 2-3 stars came from those who knew JB's music only in passing. All they wanted was a greatest hits tour. They complained about B-side songs. He has never been a top forty singer, and as you listen to his music and lyrics, they grow on you. So to all those who wrote crappy reviews, do your homework and listen to all the songs on all the albums.
